Tonia currently
Tonia Ashley McHugh is a character used by Lowri in World 8: Brave New World. She is a 24 year old graduate student who possesses the ability of Ability Learning. She has currently taught herself Telekinesis and Teleportation.
Appearance[]
Tonia has thick, black hair which she often wears loose and partially braided. Her eyes are a light brown, and her skin tans easily. She's in good shape. She follows fashion almost religiously, and is always in designer gear and whatever's in at the time. When she was first introduced, she was almost always smiling, currently, as she naturally has a very happy disposition.

Tonia possesses only one original ability, which is Ability Learning. She can teach herself to gain any simple ability she chooses. The learning can be done merely by thinking of the desired ability and focusing upon it, but this method is slow and ineffective, and it works better if she studies the relevant ability, or has an example of it to copy. If too many abilities are learned in a short amount of time, her level of control over them will fall, and overuse can also strain her body.

History[]
Tonia was raised alone by her mother after her father had left the family when she was 3. She never heard from him since. When she was 6, her mother had a brief relationship with a man named Mitch Johnson, Lilli's father, but he too left shortly after Annette became pregnant. Annette had taught her daughters that they needed to excel academically to succeed in life and to avoid the mistakes she'd made herself, so Lilli performed well in school and college, and then went on to study a postgraduate degree. After the existence of abilities was exposed, Tonia tried unsuccessfully to teach herself several abilities before she manifested Ability Teaching,and succeeded with telekinesis. She was then approached by the New Company. However, she refused Rhia Jones' offer of training after her college friend, Valerie Thomas, reminded her of Valerie's previous encounter with the old Company. Tonia went missing a few weeks after this visit.
Etymology[]
Tonia is a name without a clear meaning, but it is abbreviated from the Latin name Antonia. Her middle name, Ashley, is an English name which means "ash wood". Her surname is Gaelic and means "descendant of Hugh", while Hugh is a Germanic name meaning "mind, heart or spirit".
